About the Graduate Teachers’ Program (GTP)
The Graduate Teachers Program is a 6-month professional development and mentorship initiative designed to equip fresh graduate teachers in Tanzania with critical teaching skills, modern methodologies, and strong professional values. Launched by Rightway Schools in 2022, this program addresses Tanzania’s shortage of qualified teachers by bridging the gap between education and employment for recent graduates.
The program aims to recruit 50 fresh graduates each year, placing them in committed primary schools in Dar es Salaam to gain hands-on experience and mentorship from skilled educators while focusing on strong achievement of both academic and extra-curricular outcomes. This initiative strives to create confident, highly skilled, and professional teacher-leaders who are committed to enhancing learning outcomes and extending quality education to every child in Tanzania.
Objectives of the Program
- To provide on-site hands-on professional development to both fresh and in-service teachers, and offer training and mentorship programs to grow their capacity in classroom instruction and leadership.
- To instill life skills, financial responsibility and money management skills in over 10,000 children in Dar es Salaam.
- To create a structured savings system within government-aided schools, managed by the children under the guidance of graduate teachers.
- To encourage small-scale projects that enable learners to save for scholastic materials, enhancing their sense of entrepreneurship and self-reliance.
The graduate teachers in this program will:
- Gain hands-on experience by conducting interactive technology-led lessons hence improving their classroom leadership.
- Acquire inter- and intra-personal management skills to cultivate long-lasting professional relationships as well as a strong sense of self-awareness.
- Implement the Aflatoun Life Skills and Financial Education curriculum to foster social and resource management skills in children, through the use of Active Learning Methodologies.

Why Donate to this cause?
Your donation will play a crucial role in addressing the shortage of qualified teachers in Tanzania. With over 300,000 recent graduates lacking the practical skills and mentorship to thrive in the classroom, many young students are left without the guidance they need for a solid educational foundation. The Graduate Teachers Program bridges this gap by providing hands-on training, mentorship, and skill-building opportunities for fresh graduates, equipping them to become effective and impactful educators. By supporting this program, you’re:
- Investing in the professional growth of teachers who will inspire and educate the next generation, improving literacy, numeracy, and critical thinking among young learners.
- Inspiring a future generation of social entrepreneurs through “early-bird” life-skills, social and financial education to children.
Every donation helps us expand our reach, recruit more graduates, and extend quality and holistic education to underserved regions. Your support allows us to:
- Offer updated teaching resources, and technology integration, and facilitate the mentorship required to transform novice teachers into confident, skilled professionals.
- Cover daily transport allowances for teachers throughout the period, facilitate savings clubs, and act as accelerator funds to small enterprises created by children.
Together, we can drive systemic change in education, reduce teacher-to-student ratios, and create lasting, positive impacts on communities across Tanzania.
Join us in shaping a brighter, more promising future—one dedicated, inspired teacher at a time.
